Sabil Qaitbay or Fountain of Qayt Bay


It is considered one of the most famous and most beautiful avenues in Jerusalem. It is located in the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Mosque area between Bab al-Silsilah and Bab al-Qattanin, fifty meters from the wall of the Western Mosque, between the stairs of the central western courtyard of the Dome of the Rock and the Ottoman Madrasa. The first construction of this avenue dates back to the era of the Mamluk Sultan al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Inal. 1453-1460 AD. Then it was rebuilt by the Mamluk Sultan Al-Ashraf Qaitbay and renewed during the reign of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid in 1882 AD.
