Yasser Arafat Memorial Museum
The Yasser Arafat Memorial Museum in Ramallah is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the late Palestinian leader, highlighting his central role in contemporary Palestinian history and conveying the values and principles he fought and was martyred for. The museum aims to emphasize the significance of the key events in Yasser Arafat's life, both as an individual and as a symbol, to the contemporary Palestinian national movement, while also providing an institutional structure to protect and preserve Palestinian national memory for future generations. Furthermore, the museum supports the civic and democratic values of the Palestinian national movement, founded on the concepts of freedom, resistance, justice, and peace, and communicates the values of a national culture based on truth, freedom, equality, openness, acceptance, honor, and pride in heritage. The museum is open to the public, regardless of political affiliation, to explore the political developments and complexities that have impacted the Palestinian quest for freedom over the past century. The Museum Committee, comprised of 12 members including the Chairperson who is a member of the Yasser Arafat Foundation's Board of Directors, is responsible for overseeing the technical and public affairs of the museum.
