Dura Museum

Dura Museum

The Dura Municipality, with support from the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and UNESCO, established the Dura Museum, which houses thousands of archaeological artifacts discovered in Dura, south of the city of Hebron. The museum aims to educate generations about the heritage and its importance, and to keep the memory of Palestine open and unblemished.

Since 2009, the Dura Municipality has been working to develop the museum and equip it with as many heritage pieces as possible that tell the history of Palestine, over an area of 600 square meters, comprising two floors. It includes a hall to receive students and visitors to the museum to learn about the archaeological artifacts.

The Dura Museum arranges the archaeological artifacts according to the chronological sequence and names of the historical periods that ruled the country. The museum contains heritage and archaeological pieces that were used in the daily life of Palestinians in the context of marriage, agriculture, clothing, cookware, jewelry, and decoration, among others.

The museum has become a daily destination for those seeking the history of Palestine, and a reference for many students of history, geography, archaeology, and other studies related to Palestine and its heritage.
