The Reason Behind The Name: Relative to the village of Hajjah

Hajjah Mosque

The mosque was built during the Mamluk period, specifically in the reign of Sultan an-Nasir Nasir ad-Din Muhammad ibn Qalawun in 723 AH (1322 AD). The minaret was later added to the mosque in 735 AH (1334 AD).

The mosque complex consists of the main prayer hall, minarets, and a shrine. An inscription on the door of the mosque provides details about its construction: "In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. This mosque was built by Muhammad ibn Musa, the imam of the district, and Abdullah ibn Uthman, in the year seven hundred and twenty-three (723)."

So the mosque was commissioned and built in 723 AH (1322 AD) under the supervision of Muhammad ibn Musa, the local imam, and Abdullah ibn Uthman. The minaret was then added to the mosque 12 years later, in 735 AH (1334 AD).
