The Reason Behind The Name: Relative to the companion Ali bin Abi Talib

Mosque of Ali Ibn Abi Talib

The mosque was built in 1961 A.D., on the rubbles of the Islamic cemetery, after the fatwa (explanation or clarification) on transferring the remains of the dead and the permission to use the land to construct the mosque. A poem was written at the mosque entrance that was uttered by Said Bakr Taha (father of the poet al-Mutawakkil Taha).

It is located in the heart of the old city, on the site of the old cemetery.
