The Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie
In 1930, the people of Tulkarm donated about 600 dunums of land to establish an agricultural school in the city. This decision came after the British businessman Ellis Kadoorie donated 140 Palestinian pounds to establish a school, where the school was under the supervision of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Department of Palestinian Encyclopedia.
The school consisted of two floors for theoretical and practical teaching, in addition to dining halls, a kitchen, a library, and boarding rooms. In 1931, teaching began in this school. After the Palestinian Nakba in 1948, the school was attached to the Jordanian Ministry of Education, noting that the occupation confiscated approximately 200 dunums of its land after the Nakba.
After the 1967 war, the college was known as the Tulkarem Agricultural Institute, and in 1982 humanities majors were added, and the name was changed to Tulkarem Community College. It continued to provide its services without any development until 1993. In 1994, the college came under the supervision of the Ministry of Education in the Palestinian National Authority, and fundamental changes were made in the majors in the college, called (Palestine Technical College - Tulkarm - Al-Kadoorie).
And in 1999 AD, the college began to grant a bachelor's degree in physical education, electrical engineering. In 2004, it started awarding a Bachelor's degree in Technology Education. And the Israeli illegal practices kept going during the second intifada; they confiscated 23 dunums of the college's lands.
However, In 2007, this college was converted into a university under the name (Palestine Technical University - Al-Kadoorie).
The university's majors have increased, such as electrical engineering, technological education, physical education, industrial automation, banking, financial sciences, communications engineering, applied mathematics, and others.
The university continued to grow on the scientific and practical level, whether by expanding university facilities, establishing new colleges, or opening new specializations. In 2017, two recent university branches were opened in Al-Aroub and Ramallah, and Bachelor's degrees and diplomas were granted in several fields.
