Al-Arroub Pool

Al-Arroub Pool

The pool is located approximately 200 meters east of Al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron. It was once connected to Solomon's Pools, south of Bethlehem, and measures about 70 meters in length, 50 meters in width, and has an average depth of 5 meters.

Built during the Roman period to address Jerusalem's growing water needs, the pool and its canal system were crucial in supplying the city with water. Canals from Al-Arroub Pool and Wadi Al-Biar were particularly important.

Even after the Roman Empire's fall, the pool and its canals remained in use. During Ottoman rule, a new canal was constructed to link Solomon's Pools with Jerusalem. In the early 20th century, under Sultan Abdul Hamid II, Palestine came under British Mandate following the Ottoman Empire's collapse.
