The Dura Museum

The Dura Museum

This museum is considered one of the most important archaeological museums in Palestine, as it is located in the central part of the municipality in the city center of Dura, opposite the International Stadium. It officially opened in 2013, under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and in cooperation with the Municipality of Dura. The museum is distinguished by its archaeological and tourist value, the beauty of its construction, and the surrounding area, which helped to increase the tourism movement. The museum aims to preserve the Palestinian cultural heritage, disseminate knowledge related to that heritage, strengthen the Palestinian identity, and encourage domestic and incoming tourism. The museum includes in its flanks collections of tools and metal, archaeological and heritage pieces, and it consists of two floors; the first is concerned with Palestinian heritage and thought, while the second is an archaeological section that contains a collection of ancient artifacts.
