**Yasser Arafat Memorial Museum**

The Yasser Arafat Museum is a cultural and educational institution situated within the Palestinian presidential headquarters in Al-Bireh. It preserves parts of the old Muqata'a building, which was destroyed during the 2002 siege of President Yasser Arafat.

The museum's primary purpose is to preserve the legacy of Yasser Arafat, emphasizing his central role in contemporary Palestinian history and the values for which he fought and was martyred. It is dedicated to faithfully maintaining Arafat's biography and his significant position in Palestinian history, along with the values and principles that "Abu Ammar" (Arafat's nickname) believed in and sacrificed his life for.

The museum showcases the key stages of Arafat's life, presenting him as a human being, leader, and symbol of the Palestinian struggle, and highlighting his connection with the contemporary Palestinian national movement. The institution aims to safeguard contemporary Palestinian national memory for current and future generations. It features numerous photographs related to the Palestinian people's struggle, along with archival materials such as documents and videos. The museum also displays Arafat's personal belongings and some of the gifts he received during his presidency of the Organization and the State of Palestine, as well as the room where he spent his final days after enduring a long siege.

The museum promotes the national and democratic values of the Palestinian national movement, which are rooted in freedom, resistance, justice, and peace. It also seeks to spread national culture and raise awareness based on the principles of truth, freedom, equality, openness, enlightenment, and acceptance of others.

A 12-member committee, including the chairman who is a board member of the Yasser Arafat Foundation, manages the museum and oversees its artistic and public affairs.
