Church of Visitation

Church of Visitation

The church was named after the visit of the Virgin Mary to her aunt Elizabeth when she was on her way from Nazareth to Ein Karem. The first church was built for the Latins in 1883, and then expanded in 1913. A new church was built in 1974, and it was newly restored in 2006. A cave is located below the residence of the pastor of the Latin Church. It is very spacious and was used by people to escape danger. Part of it was restored and opened to the public in 2018.
