Al-Saqaya Standpipe
The standpipe features a façade with three pointed arches, standing approximately 3.25 meters high and 2.80 meters wide. The depth of the structure is around 60 centimeters. The front includes a water basin topped with a metal spout, replacing the original stone tap.
The basin is decorated with modified floral and muqarnas (stalactite) motifs, but these decorative elements have become eroded and indistinct due to the water exposure and the general deterioration of the standpipe's stone material.
The façade also includes a stone frame that appears to have once held an inscription, which was likely removed during later renovations or modifications to the structure. Atop the façade is a stone inscription that provides historical details about the standpipe, including the date of its construction and the identity of its builder, Prince Suleiman Aga.
The Nablus municipality has undertaken restoration efforts on the standpipe, first in 1997 and again in 2010. As a result, the structure has been connected to the city's water network and continues to provide drinking water to passersby and visitors.
